Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They provide a strong and durable foundation for replacement teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Here are some key points about dental implants:
Material: Most dental implants are made of titanium, which is biocompatible and integrates well with the jawbone.
Procedure: The implant process involves several steps. Initially, the implant is surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum tissue. Over time, the jawbone will heal and fuse with the implant in a process called osseointegration. Once the implant has bonded with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the implant, and a custom-made artificial tooth (crown) is placed on top.
